Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers into thefts in Smithtown at Siena Village Apartment Complex on Bishops Road, Leonard Marino was arrested Friday, Dec. 20 at approximately 4 p.m.
Marino stole medication from an apartment on Aug. 1 and possessed stolen jewelry which he sold to pawn shops on Sept. 18 and Sept. 24, police said. He also was observed entering an apartment without permission on Nov. 23.
Officers believe Marino entered apartments when residents were not home or deceived people to allow him into their apartment.
Marino, 31, of Ronkonkoma, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, criminal trespass, petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is continuing and police believe there may be additional victims who reside or have resided at the complex. Anyone who believes they are a victim and has not yet filed a police report is asked to contact the Fourth Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8466.
